Practical Education Curriculum for Autonomous Mobile Robot (Project Learning Program for School Based on Subsumption Architecture)

چکیده
There is no robot around us in our society at the current stage if we define a robot as an autonomous machine working in the arena of offices, homes, and disaster sites, etc. outside the factories. Mechatronics, dynamics and robotics involving humans are the world of strong nonlinearity. This paper investigated the approach to the emergence of the objective behavior of an autonomous mobile robot by learning with Subsumption Architecture (SA) for breaking through the problems of the conventional robotics with SMPA (SenseModelPlanAct) framework in the real world. It showed the way of learning in the real world with SA and developed into practical education curriculum as an introduction to Robotics having an intellectual and emotional appeal.

One-Chip Solution to Intelligent Robot Control: Implementing Hexapod Subsumption Architecture Using a Contemporary Microprocessor
This paper introduces a six-legged autonomous robot managed by a single controller and a software core modeled on subsumption architecture. We begin by discussing the features and capabilities of IsoPod, a new processor for robotics which has enabled a streamlined implementation of our project. We argue that this processor offers a unique set of hardware and software features, making it a pract...
متن کاملA brief comparison between the Subsumption Architecture and Motor Schema Theory in light of Autonomous Exploration by Be- havior Based Robots
Research and development of mobile robot can broadly be divided into two major paradigms, viz. Sense Plan Act (SPA) and Behavior Based. Although, majority of the mobile robots developed and reported in the literature follows the SPA approach; yet behavior based research is gaining momentum in the recent years. Reactive architecture is commonly used for implementing behaviors. In general, behavi...
متن کاملProposal for Research in Automatic Synthesis of Behavior-based Robot Control Architectures
I intend to investigate strategies and algorithms for automatically generating collections of behaviors interacting in a subsumption architecture that will perform well on a task as described in an external, model-based representation. I expect to nd that by exploiting the incremental improvability of the subsumption architecture, my automatic programming system will be able to synthesize progr...
متن کاملEvolution of a Subsumption Architecture that Performs a Wall Following Task for an Autonomous Mobile Robot via Genetic Programming
The goal in automatic programming is to get a computer to perform a task by telling it what needs to be done, rather than by explicitly programming it. This paper considers the task of automatically generating a computer program to enable an autonomous mobile robot to perform the task of following the wall of an irregular shaped room. A human programmer has written such a program in the style o...
متن کاملSupervenient Hierarchies of Behaviors: Lessons learned from a Vacuuming Robot *
In this paper we describe the use of behavior hierarchies based on "merging" two models of multi-layer architecture -the supervenience model of (Spector, 1992) and the subsumption model of (Brooks, 1990). The behavior hierarchy approach allows us to use the robustness of reactivity in behavior design. It also encourages the design of modular behaviors that can be reused or more importantly reca...
